Role players tell stories every time they play a game but few role players take the storytelling to the next level. It is a great fast paced story much like those of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser. I devoured Adams' debut novel in 4 days. Exceptionally readable, Spell/Sword will please more than just the fantasy lovers. As I neared the end, I truly was not ready for it to end. Please read it so Adams will write the next installment. Selfishly, I want more adventures with Rime and Jonas.

ReplyDeleteThis is an enjoyable book for both adults and teens. Adams' epic fantasy novel is the story of an abrasive, brilliant wild mage and her accidental escort (he's a bit brash but appears to have a good heart). It's fun, a little out there, and not your typical fantasy novel. You'll find great dialogue (the assassin is my favorite character just for his wise-cracking dialogue alone), enjoyable fight scenes, and killer frog-men on rocket skates (I'm serious). If you're looking for something different to satisfy your fantasy craving then this is the book for you!
