Awesome

God of War Ascension takes a step backwards because the story is not as enthralling as God of War 1, 2, or 3, however, where the product delivers(as expected, since they want people to be playing this for years) is the multiplayer. Like the Call of Duty series, you gain levels, acquire new gear(Both through levels and completing tasks known as Labors, much like in Call of Duty), and all gear has 3 levels to it which you can level up with match XP acquired in game s.html" target="_blank">game s . All pre-order armor is available to all classes, though don't expect it to be a game changer, purely cosmetic with minor bonuses early on until you unlock better gear.

You have multiple game modes, focusing on teamwork, or simply slaughtering all of your foes to try and get the target score(2000 on 4 player game s.html" target="_blank">game s , 8000 on 8 player game s.html" target="_blank">game s )

Featured game modes:
Team Favor of the Gods 4v4(Beautiful big arena with epic battles and landscape to test the mettle of competitors as well as Altar's to maintain)
Team Favor of the Gods 2v2(A smaller version of this game mode, with smaller arena's but still some surprises such as the Chalice of the Gods, as well as landscape that can change on the fly, very competetive and fun and like 4v4, teamwork pays off)
Match of Champions 8 Player FFA(Pure Chaos, and some people love it that way, lots of objectives to keep people on their toes)
Match of Champions Player FFA(Think of it like Team Favor of the Gods 2v2, but everyone for themself, still loads of fun if you prefer not to rely on anyone)
Capture the Flag 4v4 only(Lots of fun and objectives in this game , your skills will be tested as not only do you have to kill people, but you have to defend and cap flags)
Trial of the Gods 2 Player Cooperative(Think of it like Special Ops, where you face waves of enemies and every kill increases the amount of time on the clock, pulling off brutal kills or other feats will also add time)
Trial of the Gods 1 Player(If you don't have anyone to play with, it's basically the same as 2 players, but not as complex)

In Multiplayer, you have 4 gods to choose from, Ares(Melee specialist), Hades(Stealth and moving around the battlefield to avoid conflict), Poseidon(CC and increased defense), and Zeus(Heavy offensive caster that can stun and disable enemy attacks) mixing up the classes and knowing how to use each effectively will give you an edge especially in the larger team based battles.

As far as the Collector's Edition itself goes, this is a very attractive item if you are a collector of items as well as to save money overall. You pay an additional $20 upfront, but receive upwards of $92 of extra content.

The season pass is worth the extra $20-30 itself
